Zabaykal region is a part of Siberian federal district, with the city of Chita as administrative center.
Zabaykal region ranks twelfth in the country in terms of area size. It borders on Irkutsk and Amur regions, the Republics of Yakutia and Buryatia, as well as China and Mongolia.
Some monuments of architecture have been survived in Chita. This is, for example, the Archangel Michael temple constructed in the 18th century.
A Konduysky site of ancient settlement is located in the territory of Zabaykal region. This is one of monuments of the Mongolian period.
Sites belonging to Stone Age as well as first forges may be seen near the Kyr village.
One more sight, the Alkhanay Mountain, is also located in the territory of the Zabaykal region. This mountain is one of five sacred tops of the northern Buddhism.
